Business English is a 4 credit self paced course. It is aimed at A2-B2 level students who are professional, adult learners who want to improve their language level at work and in social settings. Business English provides learners with the language and skills they need through different motivating and engaging materials and activities. Authentic business stories and situations form the basis for texts, dialogues, videos, etc. The course reflects the need for students at this level to develop their grammatical competence,increase their lexical range and, above all, acquire strategies to communicate effectively in both professional and social situations. |

Objetivos Especificos
By the end of the course, the students will:
– develop their grammatical competence,
– increase their vocabulary in connection to business, the world of work and professional areas
– acquire strategies to communicate effectively in professional and social situations

The Cedefop Glossary of the European Commission (Cedefop, 2008) defines a skill as the ability to perform tasks and solve problems, while specifying that a competence is the ability to apply learning outcomes in a given context (education, work, or personal or professional development). A competence is not limited to cognitive elements (the use of theory, concepts, or tacit knowledge); it also encompasses functional aspects (technical skills), interpersonal attributes (social or organizational skills), and ethical values.
Tipo de certificado de aprobación
1- Completar el 100% de las tareas ofrecidas en el curso.
2- Alcanzar +70% de aprobación en las actividades (HW).
3- Realizar el 100% de las pruebas (Tests).
IMPORTANTE: Es obligatorio realizar ambos componentes (HW y Tests), ya que ambos son determinantes para elaborar la calificación final del curso.

Victoria Soumastre
– Docente encargada de inglés en ITR SO (Mercedes y Fray Bentos) desde el año 2020. Egresada del Instituto de Profesores Artigas, cuenta con experiencia docente en instituciones públicas y privadas desde 2008. Ex-becaria Fulbright (docente de español como lengua extranjera en EEUU) durante 2015-2016. Maestrando en Metodologías Activas de Enseñanza (Universidad Católica del Uruguay).
Maria Noel Maquieira
Docente Encargada de Inglés en el Departamento de Lenguas de UTEC desde 2016 y referente del Programa de Lenguas en el ITR Centrosur. Profesora de Inglés egresada del Instituto de Profesores Artigas y Traductora Pública por la Universidad de la República (UDELAR). Cuenta con experiencia docente en instituciones públicas y privadas desde 2004. Diplomada en Digital Technologies for Language Teaching and Learning por la Universidad de Nottingham. Maestrando en Lengua Inglesa y Educación Intercultural Bilingüe (Universidad de Montevideo).
